# Install and configure RFID reader peripheral

> Install the RFID reader peripheral application from the Marketplace and configure it for use with Smart Fitting Room.

## How to install the RFID reader edge app

1. In the sidebar, go to **Apps** → **Marketplace**
2. Find **RFID Edge App** and click **Install**
3. In the installation form, enter a **Name** for your installation
4. Optionally, add the installation to a [group](https://learn.phygrid.com/glossary/#installation-group) in **Add to group**. To make a new group, click **Create group**
5. Click **OK** to create the RFID reader peripheral installation

## How to verify the installation

1. Find your new installation in the sidebar under **Apps** → **Installations**
2. Open the installation to configure it and connect it to the device

## How to configure the RFID reader edge app

1. Open the peripheral [edge app](https://learn.phygrid.com/glossary/#edge-app) and go to the **Settings** tab
2. In **Global settings**, click **Edit settings**
3. **Region:** Leave the default for the Zebra FX9600. Only Keonn USB readers use this setting. You set the Zebra region on the reader itself (see [Prepare RFID reader](https://learn.phygrid.com/smart-fitting-room/prepare-rfid-reader-for-smart-fitting-room/))
4. In **Reader IP address**, enter the IP address of the Zebra FX9600, with or without `http://` or `https://`
5. Set the **Minimum RSSI** signal strength. The reader ignores tags with a weaker signal. Default -100
6. Set **TX power** as a percentage of the reader's maximum transmit power. On the Zebra FX9600, 100 is 30 dBm. Default 100
7. Enter the **Username** (admin) and **Password** you set to access the RFID reader
8. Check that **Auto Deploy** is selected (see [Glossary](https://learn.phygrid.com/glossary/#auto-deploy)) and pick the [environment](https://learn.phygrid.com/glossary/#environment) to deploy to
9. Click **Save all changes**

The edge app also supports the Gigatek UM800L and Keonn AdvanReader 10 readers over USB. The edge app finds them automatically. They don't need the reader IP address, username or password. Gigatek readers always use full transmit power.

## How to connect the RFID reader edge app to a device

Connect the RFID reader edge app to the device that runs Smart Fitting Room:

1. Go to the **Devices** tab in the RFID reader edge app
2. Click **Connect a device**
3. Select the device and confirm that you want to connect it to the edge app
4. Check that the reader appears as a peripheral of the device

## How to check the RFID reader logs

Check the logs with one of these commands:

- **From device level:** `docker logs rfid`
- **From CLI level:** `phy dev logs --follow --timestamps <dev> rfid`
