VMWare and Hyper-V are the supported virtualization platforms.
You can also preview and test your applications in a browser, using web browser devices.
To successfully connect your device to the PhyGrid platform and to run your application on it, the device needs to be properly configured and it needs to be online. Installing PhyOS is a requirement for x86-64 and arm64 devices, as well as virtual machines.
How to prepare installation media
- Download the latest version of PhyOS 5
- Download and install Raspberry Pi Imager
- Connect a microSD card reader (for Giada DN74) or a USB flash drive (for Intel-based devices) to your computer
- Open Raspberry Pi Imager
- Click Choose Device and select No filtering
- Click Choose OS and select Use custom. Then pick the downloaded PhyOS file
- Click Choose Storage and select your microSD or usb flash drive
- Click Next
- Select No when asked about applying OS customization settings
- Select Yes when warned that the flash drive will be erased
- Wait until the flashing process is complete

How to install PhyOS on a device
x86-64 (Intel-based) device
- Prepare the USB flash drive as previously instructed
- Insert the USB flash drive with PhyOS to the device, make sure no other USB storage devices are inserted
- Make sure you have a keyboard connected and power up the device
- Press the F10 key (may differ depending on the device) while device is loading in order to enter the boot menu, then select your USB drive as the first boot device
- Installer will load, and ask you to confirm the installation. Type in “yes” and hit enter, wait for the installation to complete
- Once complete, you will be prompted to reboot the device and remove the installation media
- Device will now boot into PhyOS
DN74 media player
- Prepare the microSD card as previously instructed
- Make sure the device is powered off and power cable is disconnected, then insert the microSD card
- Make sure you have a keyboard connected. If the keyboard is not responding, attempt to change between the blue and black USB ports.
- Power on the device by connecting the power cable
- Installer will load, select “Install PhyOS” and press enter, wait for the installation to complete
- After installation is complete, select “OK,” then select “Poweroff Installer” option from the main menu, and hit enter. Confirm the choice, and wait for the device to turn off, then remove the power cable and remove the SD card
- Connect the power cable - device will now boot into PhyOS 5
When connecting your DN74 media player to a display, make sure you use HDMI 2 port (HDMI port next to the Ethernet port)
